Used all water & oil, cooling fan kicking in, missfiring

Fiat Punto 1.2l Petrol 2000 (W)
My girlfriends Punto decided to use all the coolant, overheat and begin to misfire. After a fresh top up and bleed I checked for leaks and took it for a drive only to find the heater stopped blowing hot air after a short journey. I pulled in to bleed it again and I could hear the water boiling inside the engine.. After weighing up the price of repair and comparing it to the price of the car I was told to use Steel Seal
by my mechanic friend as he had used it on a few cars himself and said it would fix it no problem. I bought some that day and that night I drained the system of remaining coolant, filled up with water, added the Steel Seal, bled the system of air and started the engine unsure of what was about to happen.
The car was misfiring so I had to hold the revs up just a little to get it warmed up properly and once it was up to temperature I had to keep the revs up on a few occasions to keep the heat coming through the fans. At one point white smoke began to come out the exhaust for about 5 minutes and then gradually stopped along with the misfire.
I couldn't believe it!
After that I let it idle for another 20mins, probably having the car idling for 45mins in total, before turning it off.
The car has been fine now for 2 months and if Steel Seal permanently fixes the problem then I think the car will do until we decide to get a new one (not anytime soon) if not I wouldn't think twice about buying another bottle and doing it again.
Very happy customer.
