2005 Citroen C3 Desire 1.4 litre, 8 valve,
My Garage man said "Sorry, but you'll have to scrap it". I poured some Steel Seal down the top hose and fixed it back onto the radiator. The rest went into the water expansion top up filler. Topped up with antifreeze 50/50. Started up on three cylinders and a good deal of exhaust steam. Set revs at 1800 and heater full on. Wow! almost immediately fired on four cylinders and steam stopped coming out of the exhaust about five minutes after thermostat opened.
A few more puffs of steam at about ten minutes and then sweet running, still at 1800 rpm but needing less throttle. Kept it running for a full 30 minutes enjoying the warmth on a cold day. Cooled for 1 hour. Top up needed just about half a pint of antifreeze mix. No steam on start up and perfect running in traffic since. I'm 84 years old and I did this all by myself. I drove to the supermarket and bought some wine to celebrate. 'Cissy the Citroen' is back in my good books, and if I'm lucky, I will get a size 16 to 18 (ladies) T shirt for Christmas.
